Visit Campus

Mounds Park Academy is a private, tuition-based PreK–12 school in Saint Paul where children experience a rigorous curriculum with purpose and joy.

Small class sizes allow students to go on immersive journeys, led by expert faculty. They feel the soul of the arts, discover the complexity of the sciences, and grow the roots of social responsibility. They grow into brilliant, remarkable people who will stir the human spirit, stand for justice, and shake the world through deep content knowledge and strong character.

The best way to experience MPA is by visiting campus to see our students and teachers in action! We'd love to get to know your entire family!

Our most comprehensive method for a prospective student and family to visit MPA, shadow visits offer the student an opportunity to spend nearly a full day with a current student as they move from class to class, lunch, and school activities. Additionally, family interviews and admission assessments and/or writing samples will be scheduled during a shadow visit. These visits are generally reserved for students who have applied for admission.

Shadow Visit Days for 2016–17:
MPA's school day runs from 8:30 AM to 3:10 PM. Shadow visits will be scheduled between 7:45 AM and 4:30 PM with family interviews, assessments, and/or writing samples being scheduled during this time. Please call us to set up your shadow visit.

Kindergarten is a pivotal time in a student’s academic development and a common entry point at Mounds Park Academy. As a result, we offer specific visit and assessment opportunities designed with prospective kindergarten students and their parents in mind.

Kindergarten Assessment

All applicants for kindergarten must complete a “play visit” during which the student will be observed in a play setting with other prospective and current students and be assessed by a faculty member using the Gesell developmental assessment.

Play visit dates fill quickly—parents are encouraged to RSVP as early as possible. Please call the Office of Admission to schedule your child’s kindergarten play visit.

Weekday play visits are available on Wednesdays from 8:45–10:15 AM on the following remaining dates:
April 5, 2017
April 12, 2017

Early childhood education is a magical time for our young learners. MPA has already hosted its Storytime event for the 2016–17 school year, but many other opportunites exist to visit our campus above!

Literacy is front and center at Mounds Park Academy. In conjunction with our school’s annual Book Festival Week, this event is a wonderful time for you and your child to enjoy books and literacy-related activities with other children and parents, while learning more about MPA. This event features local author, Megan Maynor, who recently released the second book featuring the adventures of Ella and Penguin. Hear about Megan’s journey to become an author, how the idea of the book and sketches of the characters developed, and of course, listen as Megan reads her books. Children will be front and center during story time and will enjoy a fun craft activity related to the books. All attendees are welcome to peruse our Library and Book Festival events.

This event is most appropriate for children ages 2–6 (and their parents) and will include a brief introduction to our prekindergarten and kindergarten programs. Teachers and admission staffers will be on hand to answer questions and snacks will be provided for all attendees.
