MPA is committed to assisting families in their transportation needs. The school employs a transportation coordinator who offers assistance in arranging for bus service and carpools.
Bus service is organized through MPA and is provided by First Student, Inc. in areas where there is a sufficient number of riders. The cost for the bus, which is billed directly to the family through MPA, is completely dependent on the number of riders and is split evenly among the families. Riders have the option of one-way service. MPA currently coordinates bus service for students living near North Oaks, Hugo/Lino Lakes, Woodbury, White Bear Lake/Mahtomedi/Lake Elmo, Summit/Highland Park, and Falcon Heights/Roseville areas of St Paul. In addition, MPA students who live within the boundaries of public school district #622 (North St. Paul, Maplewood, Oakdale) are eligible for free bus service.
Students of all ages take advantage of the bus service. When they are dismissed at the end of each school day, an administrator escorts any Pre-Kindergarten student to the bus area and remains there to ensure that every student boards the correct bus safely.
Many of the surrounding public school districts offer some travel reimbursement for families who live in the district but who are not attending the local public school. The amount and terms of the reimbursement policy vary from district to district; therefore, it is advised that each family contacts its local school district for further information.
For the families who live in areas where bus service is not a viable option, participation in carpools is often a solution to their transportation needs. MPA’s transportation coordinator assists families by soliciting, organizing and distributing contact information for those families who wish to participate in a carpool.
