The girls led off the splash along. The ankle deep mud and residual viruses got the best of Kristen. But Susie ran only a few seconds behind her best ever time. Quite impressive on a day when swim fins would have worked better than spikes! She finished 29th. Last year, she was 62nd. A nice improvement!
Cera ran despite a heavy load of tests and papers due today. And Greta filled in for Nina, who was under the weather and so could not run in the weather. I really appreciate your willingness to run and be part of this team effort!
In the boys varsity race, Mason chased two of the best runners in the state for most of the race. He finished 3rd, earning a return trip to state. Pete ran a splendid race, defeating several runners who finished ahead of him last week. He finished 4th to earn his second trip to state.
Dylan ran much better than the clock said. He finished 26th. He was 34th last year. And last year 26th place was around 17:30. He also beat a runner who ran 17:30 last week. Erik ran his best time on this section course. Chris was our all-important 5th runner. His 79th place finish would have been 18:55 last year!
Finally, our JV runners had their turn in the slop. Benjamin pulled a muscle in the stuff. But the others were able to finish the race, carrying much of the course on their backs in the form of mud. Oh fun!
Now, get those muddy uniforms washed and returned to me as soon as possible. Mason and Pete still have some work to do. Feel free to join them as they prepare to run in the state meet!
