Family Service Night

Family Service Night is a meaningful and fun volunteer evening that focuses around stations, each on offering a simple, hands-on service project for families. Families can do all or some of the projects, educating their children in the process about critical social issues and the value of serving others. Watch a slideshow of photos from Family Service Night.

Poinsettia and Spring Plant Sales

Twice a year the Parents Association coordinates seasonal plant sales. The proceeds are used to support the Grant and Conference Grant programs. Watch for order forms in November for poinsettias and wreaths delivered the first week in December. In April a variety of spring plants can be ordered for delivery in mid-May. Not sure what you want or looking for a gift? Each sale also comes with the opportunity to purchase gift cards. All plants come from Gerten’s Greenhouse and are guaranteed to please and brighten your home and yard. Watch this page and eCommunication for more details.

Recycled Treasures

Each year, the MPAPA, coordinates a Fall and Spring Recycled Treasures Drive. These drives collect a wide variety of gently used items including clothing, toys, books and other household items which in turn raise considerable funds for the PA. The events raise more than $1,000 that supports the efforts of the Parents Association.

During the drives, members of the MPA Community and their friends are invited to bring their donations to the special trailers available on-site on the MPA campus. The MPAPA receives a cash payment based on the weight of the donations collected.

A wide variety of household goods are accepted for donation. Please refer to the current listing of items that can and cannot be accepted. Please note, we cannot accept upholstered furniture, microwaves or TVs made before 1995.

All donors will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

Magazine Drive

Supporting the annual Magazine Drive will directly support your child's classroom experience. Visit the Magazine Drive page to learn more.

Twins Game at Target Field

Start the school year off with a trip to Target Field and enjoy watching the MPA Grades 4 and 5 students sing the National Anthem before the Twins take the field for a home game. This annual outing, co-sponsored by MPA and by the Parents Association, is a wonderful way to renew family ties and welcome new families in our own section while showing the great spirit of Mounds Park Academy. Tickets are on sale now for the September game. Order forms will be mailed in the back to school packets or go to the MPA Special Events page to learn more and download an order form. See you at the ballpark.

Lower School Fun Run

The Fun Run is a Lower School activity held on Saturday morning of Homecoming week for MPA children ages PreK to Grade 4 that is free. Children run age appropriate distances and then receive a homecoming tee-shirt, MPA water, and snacks. Just register ahead and your child can participate. It is a great activity to meet other parents and participate in the homecoming activities. After the Fun Run stick around and watch the MPA Panthers compete in soccer, volleyball, or tennis.

Pancake Breakfast

Begun as a celebration of MPA's 25th anniversary, this December breakfast has become a delicious tradition sponsored by the Parents Association. All students and families are invited to enjoy a hearty meal served by the MPA Administrative team before classes begin. Watch this page and eCommunication for details. A great way to start your day!

Book Festival

The Book Festival is a community event supported by many parent volunteers in consultation with Nancy Lage, held every winter that celebrates great books and the school's commitment to reading. Working with the Red Balloon Bookshop, over 700 new books are available for purchase covering a variety of topics and interests. The weeklong festival includes special events such as a themed Middle School cafe, author visits, reading assembly, and literacy-based activities. Used books, donated by families, are available for all ages to purchase, as well. Friday night of the week is Family Night, which includes dinner, activities for the entire family to participate in, and a speaker. Proceeds from all book sales are given to the library to support programs and purchase books for our students and all who use the Mounds Park Academy library. Visit the Book Festival page to learn more.
