Mounds Park Academy

PA Room Information and Reservation Procedures

The Parents Association is pleased to announce the availability of a comfortable and flexible gathering space for all parents and guardians at Mounds Park Academy, located in room 124. (The old Spirit Store next to the cafeteria)

Any parent wishing to use the space simply does one of three things:

  1. Requests the room for a meeting, working on a project or luncheon. To reserve the room, contact Ann Caspar or Jackie Kemper at 651-777-2555. They can also help with any requests for additional tables.
  2. For any parent formally or casually wishing to enjoy the Parents Association lounge between the hours of 3:15 and 6:00 pm, contact Laurie Foss at 651-777-2522 and she will arrange with Kirsten Mulraney to have the 5/6 Panther Club meet somewhere else for that evening.
  3. Drops in any time he/she has some minutes and would enjoy a place to relax, use a personal computer, make a phone call or catch up with other parents.

Until the move to the former Spirit Shop this past fall, the Parents Association had an area across from the main entrance to the Black Box Theatre, which was more conducive to staging and storage than for meeting or relaxing.

Through the generosity of Michael Dai and Gail Engstrom, Gregg and Robin Brooksbank, and Peter and Karla Myers, the new lounge has been comfortably furnished (and a few items are still needed such as a small refrigerator, microwave, and end/coffee tables).  Joy Alizadeh and Beth Finch are now looking forward to having the room be multi-cultural as well as multi-purpose, as they spearhead the celebration of our diverse community through further design work.

For Parents Association and/or booster events and activities – all with a focus on supporting the education of our children and building a strong community – the lounge also provides storage and work space. Thanks to Joan Ireland, Karla Myers, and Mary Indritz for their countless hours putting materials into clearly labeled containers, which has brought order to chaos and allowed the supplies to be readily accessible.

Further, just imagine the impact this visible Parents Association lounge will have as prospective families tour the school.  This further demonstrates to visitors what a valuable asset the parents are to Mounds Park Academy.  The room will also highlight the many volunteer activities available to choose to participate in as well as the many services available to students at MPA.

Welcome – your room is ready to use and enjoy as part of the MPA community!
