THERE IS NO SCHOOL ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29th. There is Panther Club, however, and of course we will see everyone at the Twins’ game.
Thanks to the Parents Association and all the parents who brought in food to share with the teachers during conference week. It is always appreciated - especially when teachers are working late.
Last week was a challenge with three days of rain during recess. However, we had planned for such a week and so we had students “cup stacking” (a national competitive sport), others building with our Kapla blocks, still others with Legos, students doing yoga, and always a group in the gym with an indoor activity.
I have mentioned the navy blue fleece which can be worn as part of the uniform. At the present time you may purchase them at Educational Outfitters, 3000 White Bear Avenue. This is across from Maplewood Mall. The MPA Spirit Shop is looking into purchasing some to sell at school, but until that time Educational Outfitters is the only place they can be purchased. Sweatshirts or other colored fleece are not a part of the uniform but can be worn for recess and on spirit days.
Ann M. Martin, author of the Babysitters Club series and over 300 books, will be speaking to third through sixth graders on Monday, October 2nd from 2:15-3:10 in the recital hall. We are all looking forward to her visit.
If your child is in fourth grade Spanish they will be working on their Command Booklet over the next three weeks. They should be doing their keyboarding at home and can e-mail their work to Senora Castellanos at mcastellanos@moundsparkacademy.org and she will correct it online! This is one of those projects that you don’t want to wait until the last minute to complete, so help your child do a little each evening. You will get specifics from Senora.
Chinese club begins on October 4th right after school. You may pick your child up at about 4:15 outside room 113.
Friday, the 6th of October, is our annual Cultural Fair. It is truly a family event, and I hope you will bring your children to MPA that evening to learn about other cultures and experience a variety of foods and entertainment.
Kindergarten Family night is October 12th. Make sure to send your RSVP back to school as soon as you can because it really helps with the planning.
All of these wonderful activities that take place in the fall provide great opportunities to meet new families and to continue the spirit of community that MPA is so well known for.
