Homecoming

A huge thank you to everyone who was involved in planning and working at Homecoming last Saturday. I believe it was the best homecoming I have attended, and the lower school felt very involved. There were over 50 children who participated in the fun run, another 40 in the 3-4 choir who sang at the volleyball game, and numerous others who interacted in the games and festivities or who watched the upper school games that took place. What a wonderful community event.

Chess club started this week and will continue to meet on the first and third Monday of the month. Thanks to Mr. Yoch for organizing this activity. I know he appreciates all the help he gets from other parents, so please make sure to come and help him work with the children. The national Chess Camp that held a chess camp here last summer will be holding a winter mini-camp December 27th-29th at Mounds Park Academy. Mark the dates on your calendar, and we will send out information as soon as we receive it.

On Tuesday, September 26th, Karate begins in the Kreischer Gym and on Thursday, September 28th Mad Science begins in the science rooms.

Chinese club filled immediately. It will begin October 4th and will meet in room 113 right after school.

If your child is participating in any of these after school activities they will be taken care of from the end of school until the activity is over. If you are not here to pick them up when the activity ends, they will be sent to Panther Club so that their safety is ensured and you know where to pick them up. If you know you will not be able to pick them up at the end of the activity, please let your homeroom teacher and your child know. Children often get upset when an activity ends and they do not see their parents, unless they have been told about it ahead of time.

Friday, September 29th is MPA night at the Metrodome. All of the tickets we had reserved have been sold, so if you did not purchase tickets but still want to go you can try to pick up tickets through the Twins box office. If your child is singing in the choir please make sure they wear an MPA shirt. We are representing the school, and it makes it easier for the chaperones to keep track of the children. In honor of the MPA night at the Metrodome we will have another spirit day at MPA. The children can wear any MPA shirt or sweatshirt to school on Friday the 29th.

As the weather gets cooler, help your child remember to bring a sweater, fleece or jacket for recess.
