Sledding

We finally have snow and can return to sledding at recess.  Of course, this means that the children will be outside in the cold getting their hands and feet wet and chilly.  Please help your child remember to bring his/her snow pants, boots, hats, scarf and mittens each and every day, or have them keep an extra pair in their locker.  Without the proper outer clothing, recess can get very uncomfortable.

The Used Uniform Sale begins on Monday, January 22nd from 2-5 p.m. and ends Tuesday, January 23rd from 8-10 a.m.  We are hoping that by offering it during drop-off and pick-up everyone will have a chance to take advantage of all the bargains.  The proceeds from this sale, along with the box top and milk cap monies, have been put in a fund to purchase our climbing ribbon wall.  We have ordered it and hope to have it installed in the spring.  Thank you for all of your clothing, milk caps and box tops - every little bit helps.  We can still use volunteers to help set up and take down the sale.  Set-up is on Monday from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. and clean-up is on Tuesday from 10 a.m.–12 p.m.  Even if you can work for an hour, we would love to have you.  Contact Renee Wright if you are willing to help out, as she is organizing the event.

If you have a present fourth grader, plan on attending the Fifth Grade Information Night on Thursday, January 25th, from 5:30-6:45 p.m.  Make sure to bring your present fourth grader so they can find out what Middle School is all about.

Book Festival is planned for the week of January 29th.  We will kick it off on Friday the 26th with a reading assembly where children will be paired with their buddies to enjoy a half hour of shared reading.  The festival ends on February 2nd with the Family Night from 5-8 p.m.  The committee has already been working very hard to make sure this will be a wonderful event, so I hope to see all of you there.

Another family event takes place on Monday, February 5th.  The Upper School orchestra has planned their second annual Disney Concert just for us.  The concert starts at 6:30 p.m., and children are invited to come in pajamas with a stuffed animal.  Since these Upper School students are willing to give up an evening for us, not to mention the time they have spent practicing, they would love to see a huge turnout.

I hope all of you enjoyed the long weekend with your children.
