Where shall I begin thanking the parents of the MPA community? Over the last week, I have experienced numerous MPA events sponsored and attended by the MPA families. A huge thank you to all of you who planned and executed the annual MPA Book Festival! The kids truly got excited about reading as we kicked off the festival with our pairing assembly. Students were back with their paired grade level reading to each other from favorite books. It was intriguing to see the range of books being read and the reactions of students to each other. It is so easy for the Upper School students to forget what it was like to be in Pre-K! During the entire following week, it was amazing to see the excitement escalate as the used books were collected and sold, the children visited the gallery and made a wish list, the little ones peeked into the Kreischer Gym to see the enviable café that the Middle School students got to experience, and finally the wearing of the T-shirts! This all culminated with the Family Night on Friday. The committee did a fantastic job of having both active and quiet things for the children to participate in. The help of the older students once again made the evening go smoothly.
The next group of people I would like to thank is all of those who helped with staff appreciation week. It was so much fun to start each day with some new surprise awaiting us. We all thoroughly enjoyed the treats, the gifts, and the massages. Thank you for thinking of us.
Finally, a huge thank you to the Upper School Orchestra and Rosa Glade Arnold for putting on the Disney Concert. Over 60 Lower School students attended and the experience was inspiring. I was proud to see how well-behaved our Lower School students were and how interested they were in the music and the instruments. I appreciated so many of you coming out on that frigid night, but it was a wonderful experience for both the Lower and Upper School students.
I hope your experiences at conferences are meaningful for you and your children. Our teachers work hard to make sure they are well-informed about your child and that they communicate with you openly and honestly. Sometimes this communication is not easy to give or receive, but if we work together, great things happen for our children.
Remember that there is no school tomorrow, the 9th of February, but Panther Club is available.
Next week, we will celebrate Valentine’s Day, but more importantly we will celebrate a Week of Kindness to others. Ask your child how they have been kind to someone each day this week. Children may wear red, purple, pink, or anything with a heart on it. Each room celebrates in their own way, so please respect the wishes of your child’s teacher as you help your child celebrate on this day.
Happy Valentine’s Day to each of you, and thank you for sharing your children with MPA!
