Fourth Grade Vocabulary Parade

I believe we can all quit hoping for snow now.  We got our snow, our snow day and even some sunshine.  What could be better?  (80 degrees?)  I hope you have some family time planned for our spring break.  It is a wonderful chance to make some memories together. When you bring your children back to school, there may quite likely be an adjustment period for them because we often throw many of our routines out during breaks.  If you can possibly start them back on their school routine the last weekend, it often helps the children tremendously.

The second graders are just now listening to a storyteller so they can pick up tips on how to tell a story well.  First, she will tell a story well and then she will tell another not so well.  The children will analyze why one was better than the other, and then try to apply the good techniques to their own storytelling unit and deliver some good stories after we get back from break.

Tomorrow is the annual Fourth Grade Vocabulary Parade.  Each child selects a vocabulary word that they think is fun and makes a poster exhibiting it.  Then the children dress to fit their word and parade through all the classes in their costumes, announcing each word and its meaning.  It is quite an exciting time for all of the Lower School.

It never ceases to amaze me how creative our teachers continue to be. They truly know how to engage children in learning.

Have a good spring break.
