Return from Spring Break

The children seemed delighted to get back to school and see their friends and teachers.  Some still looked a bit travel weary, but all were calm and ready to get back into the routine. This is one of the favorite times of the year for teachers as the excitement of having a break is over, the standardized tests are completed, and the children once again settle into school and the serious business of learning.

Decisions about new students are presently being made, and contracts will be sent to these children next week.  If, for some reason, you did not receive or have misplaced your contract and need a new one printed, please let us know.  It is imperative that you let us know your status for next year so we do not end up filling your child’s place with a new student.  It is our hope that everyone will indeed return.

We have a new Korean intern, and she is willing to teach a Korean culture and language class after school.  We will be sending home a flier about this so you can sign up your child if you wish.

Summer programs are out and registrations are already coming in.  Classes fill on a first-come first-served basis so make sure to register early.  Once again there are over 70 camps and classes offered, so take some time to look over the offerings and decide which ones your child would enjoy or benefit from taking.  You can choose from the academics of world languages, math, writing and reading, the sport camps offering basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis or badminton, or the more creative classes of dance, jewelry making, computer, cooking or origami.  There really is something for everyone.  The Panther Camp has a different theme each week so your child can attend all summer without repeating a theme.  If you have questions about any of the classes, please feel free to give me a call.

The Lower School Art and Music Show is set for Thursday, April 12th.  We spend a lot of time talking to the children about proper behavior at this event.  We explain that this is a family evening rather than a child’s party.  Children should remain with their families at all times.  The children are very proud of their work so it is fun to let them be the guide as they lead you through all of their art work.  On the other hand, it is really enjoyable to observe what students both younger and older than your children have completed.  You will be getting a letter with the details about what the children should wear that evening and when they need to be in their classrooms.  It is important that they go to their classroom at the designated time so they can get warmed up and lined up for the program.  If you are bringing older or younger siblings, please have them sit with you during the concert.

Thinking snow sure worked, so now let’s think about spring and sunshine and see how well we can do.
