The hubbub around Grandparent/Special Friend Day builds as the days get closer. The children are so excited to share their school with their special friends and who, but grandparents and special friends, would think anything they did was fantastic! This day is one of my favorites as I watch the young and younger mix and mingle and try new things together. The music program was fabulous and we even had grandparents who came and danced with the children. The day before this special day I read the children a book during lunch time. It was called, My Grandmother, according to me. My favorite part talks about Grandma putting pink gooey cream on her face to get rid of wrinkles and the little girl in the story wonders why she would do that. She thinks every line on Grandma’s face tells a story – and isn’t that the truth? Thanks to all of you for finding someone to share this special time with your child/ren.

There are three more important dates coming up:
October 31st is, of course, Halloween. At MPA, each child brings a costume and we have a parade of costumed children wind their way through the entire school to the cheers of parents, grandparents, Middle and
November 1st is our next duty-free lunch. Come and join us even if you are not signed up. We can always use the extra help. If it is raining, please don’t leave for the smaller the groups at indoor recess the better the activity. I thought this would be a good day to let teachers go off campus for lunch as they will have expended a lot of energy working their way through Halloween.
November 2nd is the Best of MPA from 7:00-10:30 p.m. at the Town and Country Club. If you are a shopper, you will love to come and bid on items. If you are not, just come and enjoy the social gathering. It is a great way to meet other parents from MPA. Hope to see you there.
