Middle School is a time of change and growth for our students, and as a part of that it is a time for them to take safe risks, learn lessons, and succeed or fail on their own. And speaking of that--our quarter one grades are now final in PowerSchool! What's great about Middle School grades, of course, is that they are ephemeral; colleges don't see them, and the slate is wiped clean each quarter for students to start anew. Second quarter is a fresh start for all, and I would encourage you to talk with your child about the benefits of beginning with a clean slate and setting specific goals for improvement over this quarter.
The Middle School play is this weekend (11/10 and 11/11); tickets are scarce at this point, but if you are interested in attending you should call the school and ask for the theater ticket line.
Looking ahead a few weeks, seventh and eighth grade students will be conferencing after-school on November 30 and all day on December 1. Note that grades 7-12 do not have school on Friday, December 1, while PreK through 6th grades will have school as usual. Parents of students in grades seven and eight should have received an email with signup information earlier in the week--if you didn't, please contact the middle school office.
Fifth and sixth graders will conference in February along with Lower School.
