As we wind down the year, I thought it might be helpful to mention a few summer classes that could be fun (and educational, but don't tell your children) for Middle School students. Classes that might be particularly helpful either to reinforce prior learning or to stimulate new interest include math, French and Spanish Refreshers, Speech Camp, Hip Hop Dance, Mary Rossini’s “All Roads Lead to Rome," Rocketry, Renette Stinson's Pop Up Poetry, and Kathleen Sheridan's Origami. There are also sports camps in volleyball, baseball, badminton and basketball. These are also great ways for friends to do something fun together, and for kids to make new friends. For more information, either check the MPA website or contact the school to request a brochure.
And now, your weekly concert update: MS Vocal is Thursday, May 3rd; MS Band is Tuesday, May 8th; and MS/US Orchestra is Thursday, May 10th. See you then!
There will be a trip over MEA of this fall (October 2007) to the Yucatán Pennisula open to current 6th and 7th graders (next year's 7th and 8th graders) who take Spanish. There will be an informational meeting on Tuesday, May 15th at 6:00 p.m. in Room 155. If anyone has any questions before the meeting, please contact Marisue Gleason at mgleason@moundsparkacademy.org or Kari Kunze at kkunze@moundsparkacademy.org.
8th Grade Parents: We will be having an 8th grade dinner to celebrate your child's Middle School years. The dinner will be on Tuesday, May 29th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the cafeteria. You should be getting invitations in the mail next week. Also, we are looking for pictures of groups of MPA 8th graders from this year and the past three years. If you have any pictures of your kids with other MPA kids, please send them to Marina Dale at mdale@moundsparkacademy.org. The types of photos we are looking for are from band concerts, choral concerts, MPA overnights, the D.C. Trip, the
