Let's Talk

Let's talk!

One of the most important things that we as Middle School parents and educators can do is talk.  That's not just to the kids (a worthy and worthwhile task) but also to each other.  To this end, MPA hosts a variety of parent education and discussion meetings, ranging from the normal Parents Association meetings to a variety of evening parent education nights.

Our first Middle School-specific parent night is this coming Wednesday, September 19th.  We open the meeting with an hour of information tailored specifically for the parents of fifth and sixth graders, including tips to help you adjust to the joy and excitement of the Middle School experience.  We spend the next half hour with all Middle School parents, sharing information that we think everyone can benefit from, and end with an hour designed specifically for parents of seventh and eighth graders.  We also have a free gift for all in attendance.  If you can't make it, please contact Janice King in the Middle School office and she will send you an outline of our discussion (or plus the free gift!).

Quite a few more meetings are in store for those who wish to take advantage, including our Parents Association PIE (Parents Involved in Education) nights and a special talk by Rick Lavoie, a nationally-known education expert.  We invite you to attend as many of these meetings as possible; it is through these common experiences and conversations that we can best help our children succeed academically, socially and emotionally.

One quick scheduling note:  We have several field trips coming up next week, as the fifth graders head to Ihduhapi, the sixth graders to the Audubon Center, and the seventh and eighth graders have their annual picnic on Friday the 21st.  As your children will be able to tell you, sometimes the best education takes place outside the classroom!
