A New Beginning - Second Quarter

A New Beginning

We have wrapped up the first quarter of the school year, and Middle School students start second quarter this week.  Although few students actually began new classes this week, all have had their slates wiped clean and currently have no grade record.  The beauty of this, especially for preadolescents, is that they have a chance for a fresh start, unsullied by past errors.  It's particularly important for Middle School students; they change so dramatically from one month to the next that it is essential they have an opportunity for redemption.

This echoes our approach in many areas; for instance, we re-start our counting of “tardies” with each new quarter.  We understand that children make mistakes and our goal is to educate, influence and improve their behavior in as many areas as possible.  We believe in the power of redemption, and a new start for the quarter is just one example!

On an unrelated note, we have two upcoming parent events that I hope you are aware of:  Friday, November 2nd is our annual Best of MPA social event and fundraiser.  Hopefully many of you will attend, as it is always a fun highlight for the adult MPA community.  The following weekend, Saturday, November 10th, is our Fall Open House for prospective families.  Many of us parents know families that would be good additions to MPA.  If that is the case, please give them a quick call and encourage them to come to Open House between 1:00 and 3:30 p.m. on the 10th.  This is a great opportunity to help fill the school with kids you know and like.
