For some years, the MPA Middle School has held an all-grades spelling bee, with the winner advancing to regional competition against public and private middle schools in the area. The past week has seen us through this competition once again, beginning with a written spelling test last week which almost all students took.
This week, the competition grew more intense (and more public), with a one-hour long

Spelling Bee in the Recital Hall for the top 28 spellers in the Middle School. Words grew
progressively more difficult as rounds passed and students were eliminated, and the crowd
grew positively raucous, cheering wildly as their friends and acquaintances attempted words such as "fallacious," "inaccessible," and "adjuvant." In the end, Colton G. won, successfully
outspelling his peers. Benjamin N. took second place, with Caroline A. coming in third.
Congratulations to all who participated and to our three winners!
