In celebration of Halloween this Friday, Middle School students may dress in black and/or orange or wear other shirts that promote the spirit of Halloween without being offensive or violent. Those who choose to dress in the spirit of Halloween may also opt to wear blue jeans. Because we want to maximize learning and minimize distractions, we request that no additional make-up, costumes, wigs, props, etc. are brought to school.
There is one exception, however, and this is for 7th and 8th graders only since 5th and 6th graders had the opportunity to wear costumes at their after-school Halloween party last Friday. If a 7th or 8th grader wants to be in costume all day on Friday, s/he must donate $5.00 to Second Harvest Food Shelf through the 7/8 Student Council fundraiser. Here's how it works. Each grade has a jar in the Middle School Office. If students bring coins and put them in their grade's jar, the coins count towards their total. If they bring bills and put them in the opposing grade's jar, the bills count against the other team's tally. Students in 7th and 8th grade who bring $5.00 in coins or bills (or both) will receive a pass from the Middle School Office to wear a Halloween costume for the day. And there's one more thing that we hope is obvious: Costumes must be appropriate and meet the standard of the MPA Code of Ethics. In other words, no weapons, violence, or other offensive clothing or props of any kind are allowed - no matter how much you donate.
Lower School students will participate in their Halloween Parade throughout the school beginning at 2:25 p.m. Our Middle School students will enjoy their procession and then resume class.
Thanks in advance for your support and spirit. Enjoy Halloween!
