When people think about the school and parent partnerships, many times they think about volunteering. Webster's Dictionary describes a volunteer as someone who works without being paid; however, at MPA, it's more than that. We look at that volunteer relationship as the foundation to an effective and meaningful partnership in a connected community.
The following pictures are evidence of that philosophy. These parents are not just working without pay; they are participating in the learning process. This philosophy is also supported by the National Middle School Association, which states that successful schools for young adolescents promote family involvement and take the initiative to develop needed home-school bonds. They also assert that the involvement of family is linked to higher levels of student achievement and improved student behavior.

Therefore, I urge every member of this community to find time in his/her schedule to join us here at MPA in a particular class or with the entire Middle School community. It is a partnership that has immeasurable value!
