Kristen Bourne is one of 30 senior female students from St. Paul area high schools selected as Athena Athletes for their athletic talents and accomplishments.  Kristen was chosen for her accomplishments in cross country, nordic skiing and track and field earning 18 varsity letters. She was a Tri-Metro All-Conference selection 14 times and a 4 time Nordic ski conference champion. Kristen was the Section 4 nordic ski champion this past winter. Kristen also participated in 2 cross country and 4 nordic ski State Meets. Congratulations Kristen!

The Mounds Park Academy 7th grade boys basketball team finished their season Sunday, March 10th, falling to the St. Thomas Academy Cadets and finishing 2nd in the White Division of the St. Paul Catholic Athletic Association. The boys finished an outstanding season with a record of 12 wins against only 2 losses.

The 2nd place finish came about in somewhat unusual circumstances. The Panthers lost Friday, March 8th to Highland Catholic and thought their season was over. However, due to a lack of players available for the Championship game on Sunday, Highland Catholic had to forfeit the win. MPA moved on to compete for the championship against the Cadets from St. Thomas Academy.

St. Thomas Academy had a lot of size, and good shooters as they pulled away from the Panthers in the 2nd half. The Panthers kept it close early, but couldn't trim the lead enough to make a move.

What a season by the boys! They competed all year and kept an unblemished record into the Highland Catholic game. Congratulations to the boys and Coach Bolden on an impressive season!

Open to all MPA K, 1st and 2nd grade boys and girls

Clinic sessions will introduce your ballplayer to the game of baseball/softball. The clinics will focus on building confidence by developing fundamental skills and knowledge so that playing baseball/softball is fun.

Teaching baseball/softball at these ages requires one-on-one attention, so it would be ideal to have an adult (no experience required) accompany each ballplayer. The added benefit, of course, is the time spent together playing the great American pastime.

Location: Lansing Sport Center (the weather is always perfect inside)

Dates: Saturdays, March 2, 9 and April 6, 13, 20  (we'll finish before your local season begins)

Time: 10:00 - 11:15 a.m. (not too early, and you're aftemoon is free)

Cost: FREE (exactly twice as much as last year, but still a great bargain)

The Nordic ski program has a sensational day at the Section Meet held yesterday at Green Acres.

Senior Kristen Bourne and Junior Nick Gardner both won to sweep the individual section 4 titles.  Joining Nick and Kristen at State will be Ellie Hands (6th place finish) and Kethan Dahlberg(8th place finish) in their races.Great exciting day for MPA. Go Panthers on to State!

The Nordic ski teams had a great day at the Tri-Metro Conference Championships yesterday at Elm Creek. Both teams finished second in the conference. Kristen Bourne was the Girls Conference Champion and MPA had 8 individuals make the All-Conference and Honorable Mention teams. Here are their places of finish in yesterday's competition.

The Lansing Sports Center will once again be open Saturday mornings to MPA families and their friends from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon January 12th through February 23rd, with the exception of Saturday, February 2nd when MPA will host a Boys C Team Basketball Tournament. 
You are welcome to come and use the track, sports center and fitness center.

Congratulations to the 7th grade boys soccer team for winning the CAA middle school league soccer championship last Friday, October 26th.
