Sometimes I feel like the luckiest person in the world. I am privileged to teach part-time in 3rd grade at MPA and also have part-time administrative duties in the Lower School. I feel I have the best of both worlds as I work with students, teachers, and parents. I am excited to take on a new set of responsibilities this year as I assist Tony Reimers, Pre-K-8 grade director, transition into a new job. We worked together all summer on schedules and preparations for the 2010-11 school year. I look forward to continuing the team efforts with Tony as we work together to support the Lower School.

Students are always my top priority in my administrative role. I often work one-on-one with students, plan after school programs that challenge students, and work with teachers to help them meet individual needs in their classrooms. The students are a bright spot in my day and make my work at MPA rewarding.

Working with parents is another important aspect of my job. I coordinate many parent volunteer programs such as the birthday board, duty free lunch, the birthday box project, and the used uniform sale. Parents are a vital part of our MPA community and their volunteer participation and effort is what makes a tremendous difference at MPA!

The most exciting and rewarding part of my job is working at a school that I truly love. I cherish the MPA philosophy of teaching to the whole child and value the mission of teaching students to think independently, act with respect and integrity in our diverse world, and mostly contributing to helping students find the joy in learning.

I go forward in my new position energetic and excited about learning new things and am confident I will find joy every day in this important work.
