Middle School Cafe was a Blast

The Mounds Park Academy Parent Association Book Festival Middle School Café wishes to thank all the volunteers, faculty, staff, and students who made the Café an out of the world experience.

The first thank you is to Jacqueline Mudge and Mary Jo Thane who have agreed to Co-Chair the Food Committee for next year's Café. We are still looking for a Co-Chair for the Middle School Café for next year. Please let Joan Ireland (joanmi@comcast.net) know if you are interested.

A special thank you to Susan McElvain for chairing the Food Committee. The food committee consisted of; Kathi Peterson, Melinda Samsel, Genevieve Winga, Sam DiVita, Stacy Suberg, Jennifer Lindrud, Patty Lange, Jennifer Ogden, Beth Finch Maryellen Wold, Gretchen Corkrean and Jacqueline Mudge. They went above and beyond in not only organizing and shopping for the food but brainstorming activities to coordinate with each themed day.

The Design Committee was inventive and talented. The committee was: Gary Rosenbaum, Kathi Peterson, Erin Connolly, Melinda Samsel and Traci Tapani.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Sage kitchen staff for sharing their space, fridge and freezer with us and for their help all week. Also, we thank them for providing the delicious cookies for the English classes.

Thank you to each and every custodian for their cheerful help before, during, and after the event.

Thank you to Girl Scout Troop 50245 for their creative construction of constellations, for decorating, and the informational posters they created. Bridget Fitzgerald and Lynne Bardy helped the girls create the art work and hang it in the Café. Troop members are: Isabel I. (Grade 6), Ingrid D. (Grade 6), Sophia F. (Grade 6), Sara S. (Grade 5), and Emily G. (Grade 6).

Carol Hatcher was our 3M Visiting Wizard and demonstrated Toys in Space. Also, thank you to her and the Fourth Grade Girl Scout Troop for the Camera Obscure. The educational entertainment was much appreciated.

Courtney Nagle took on chairing Used Books for the entire Book Festival.

Nancy Lage provided support and enthusiasm.

The Middle School faculty and administration's support, advice assistance and good humor throughout the week were greatly appreciated!

We appreciate the generosity of Donuts Deluxe in Vadnais Heights, Little Caesars Pizza on White Bear Avenue, and especially Farleys and Sathers Candy Company.

Many volunteers helped in more than one way. Everyone was necessary and your time was greatly appreciated. Here is our army:
