CRAFTING IN PREPARATION FOR THE EVENT
The Middle School Café Design committee has started crafting decorations. No special skills needed. We will meet in Room 42, near the boy's locker rooms on:
- Thursdays (February 9, 16 and 23) from 1 to 3 pm.
- Fridays (Feb 3 and 24) from 1:30 to 4pm.
Please join the fun and bring a friend. No need to let us know in advance that you will be coming; just drop by and join the fun.
JUST BEFORE THE EVENT (Feb 28 to March 2):
Set up - Help decorate and set up the Café according to the Design Committee's plans. Any time you can offer is a significant help. Truly, many hands make light work and it's actually a lot of fun. We'll be working magic in the Kreischer Gym. Set up in the Café will be:
- Tuesday Feb 28, 1:30pm till 7pm
- Wednesday Feb 29, 8:30am till 3pm
- Thursday March 1, 8:30am till 2pm (we be done in time to see lip-syncs)
- Friday March 2, 8:30am until done
No special skill is needed - If you can handle a roll of tape, we need your help! If you find yourself with a few extra minutes please stop by the Kreischer Gym, even if you hadn't planned on it. We can use you!
THE WEEK OF THE BIG EVENT (March 5-9):
The Middle School Café cannot happen without volunteers. Volunteering in the Café is fun! There is usually time to socialize with others and you can see your child during their school day. Volunteers are needed to set up, staff and clean up the café. Even an hour of your time would make a huge difference to the success of the Café. ANY TIME THAT WORKS FOR YOU THIS WEEK, THERE'S SOMETHING YOU CAN DO TO MAKE BOOK FESTIVAL A SUCCESS!
Café Staffing - Help supervise students, sell books and food. It's a great way to spend an hour, a day or the week watching your child have fun with his/her friends. During school, students are in the café during English classes, advisories, lunch and recess. Opening 8 am - Arrive at 7:45 am, make coffee, set out food and serve the early patrons.
Café Service - 8:15 am to 4:00 pm. Sell food and beverages, clean up, and prep food as needed. Lunch/Recess staffing--10:45 am to noon. Most of the Middle School students will be in the Café during this time. This is a fun time to volunteer!
Book Sellers - Sell books, used and new, restock used books as needed. 8:15 am to 3:45 pm. With extended hours on Wednesday evening until 7:30 pm (prior to the US Band concert), Friday for the Pizza Party, and for Family Night until 8:00 pm.
Pizza Party - Friday, March 5, 2:30 to 5:15 pm. Help set up for the Pizza Party, run the Café during the Pizza Party and clean up after it is done.
Tear Down/Clean up - Help remove all decorations and return the Kreischer Gym to its original appearance. We will began Friday, March 5 at 8pm following Family Night and continue Saturday March 6 at 10 a.m.
