Parents Association Grant Program - Third Cycle Grant Awards

The Board of the Parents Association is proud to announce the recipients of the third cycle of the Parents Association Grant Program.  This program was instituted to provide funding for programs which support the education and enrichment of the students of MPA.  The funding provided is to support programs and/or curriculum and items that are outside the scope of other budgeted funds.  The program is open to all MPA faculty and staff.

The theme for the 2006-2007 school year was Global Education.  There were three grant cycles during the academic year.  Third cycle award recipients are as follows:

The Mandarin Program was awarded $5,000.  A portion of that commitment was awarded during the second grant review period ($2,200) and the remainder ($2,800) is awarded this cycle.

Mari Espeland and the LS Music Program were awarded $906 to purchase new drums, music and teacher guides.  This grant will provide new drums for the younger students and replace the old drums currently in use.

The LS Chess Club was awarded $460 to cover the cost of clocks, chess sets and medals.  The Chess Club has been supported and financed by the Yoch family since its inception.

Mike Vergin and Katy Murr were awarded $1,500 to enhance the MS and US Debate Program.  MPA Debate won its first Minnesota State High School League Championship this year.  The award will allow for implementation of honorariums and international virtual debates, and enrichment of the debate program curriculum.

Congratulations to our third round grant recipients!
