Creating effective and meaningful partnerships

Goal

Strengthen the connections between the stakeholders in each student’s success—parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty and friends—who will support the student experience as mentors, partners and role models. We will develop communication channels to clearly articulate the mission, common goals and values to the MPA community, so that all of our members support the school in its mission to prepare students for life. We must find ways to promote active, respectful and productive dialogue between home and school so that the partners in each child’s development can be most effective. Providing meaningful and relevant ways for families to participate in the life of the school will tap into the considerable skills, talents and knowledge of our community and enrich the student experience. We will expand the reputation of MPA beyond the internal family to the external community by defining and articulating our unique educational niche and marketing the school’s strengths with an innovative and targeted plan. By building commitment to the school with a community of satisfied students, parents, faculty and alumni, we will ensure lifelong support for the school and affirm the lasting value of an MPA education.

Rationale

The educational experience does not begin and end at the school’s doors. It is fostered by each family that claims MPA as its school of choice for an absorbing educational journey into the intellectual, artistic and athletic worlds inside and outside of MPA. To create a community of engaged, talented, diverse and supportive parents, alumni, faculty, friends and prospective members, we must invite and encourage every member of our community to participate meaningfully in the life of the school and continue to communicate with sensitivity and innovation in all of our messages. This full-scale effort to connect all community members will ensure commitment from all perspectives: a vibrant student body, a parent community that is engaged and informed, faculty, staff and administrators who aspire and inspire, and alumni who experience the lasting value of their MPA education.
