Our first days have been an outstanding success. Students are finding their way around the building and to their classes. The commons is filled all day with students visiting, studying, and just relaxing. The "quiet study room" has been very popular with students who need a quiet place without distractions. In the classrooms, the learning has begun. Our teachers and students act as if they never left for the summer. We are all looking forward to a great year!

Upcoming events:

• On Friday, September 1, all ninth grade students will spend the day at Minnehaha Falls in Minneapolis. The bus will leave from the school parking lot at 9:00 a.m. And will return around 2:30 p.m., so you should drop off and pick up your child at the usual times. A bag lunch will be provided for each student. If your child has special dietary needs, you may want to send a lunch with her/him. This event will take place rain or shine, so make sure that your student comes dressed appropriately.
• On Wednesday, September 6, all seniors and parents are invited to the annual Senior Potluck. The potluck will be held in the cafeteria, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.. We ask each family to bring a dish to share: salad, main course, or dessert. Drinks will be provided. The representative from Josten's will be there to talk about announcements, caps and gowns, and class rings.
• Homecoming festivities will take place September 15 and 16.
   - On Friday, the 15th, the traditional homecoming assembly will take place in the Lansing Sports Center at 2:30 p.m.
  - Our homecoming athletic games will take place all day on Saturday the 16th. A  picnic lunch will be served by our alumni from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  - The Homecoming Barbecue and Dance will be held Saturday evening, 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. in the west parking lot and Black Box. The barbeque is  from 7:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.. The dance is from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.  Students do not need dates to attend and the dress is casual. Our student council is charging a $5.00 admission fee to cover the cost of  the disc jockey.
