Low Bass Clinic

Last week, our music students had an exceptional opportunity to work with the former tuba player of the Dallas Brass, Deanna Swoboda.  Deanna was in town for the Minnesota Music Educators Convention.  She spent two days at MPA working with our band students thanks to the sponsorship of Eckroth Music of White Bear Lake.

SnoDaze Dance

The annual SnoDaze Dance, for students in grades 9 – 12, will be held Friday evening in the Black Box from 8:00 – 11:00 p.m.  This dance is casual dress.  Students can buy tickets at the door for $5.00.  With the help of the Student Council and input from Upper School students, we have re-evaluated our dance policies and written guidelines that we will communicate to all students.  Dance Policies:

* All guests must be pre-registered before 3:00 p.m. the day of the dance.  The registration forms require a high school administrator’s signature.  All guests must be currently enrolled in high school.  The only exception to this is MPA graduates of the previous graduating class (2006).

* For all dances, both on and off campus, there will be a police officer in attendance with a Breathalyzer.

* All students must arrive by 9:30 p.m.  No student will be allowed to enter after that time.

* Once a student leaves a dance, they may not return.

* All coats and bags will be given to a chaperone for safe keeping until the end of the dance.

* Students may not bring in any drink container to the dance.  Water and pop will be sold at the dance by the Student Council.

* As this is a school event, students are expected to dance and behave appropriately.

Think Summer

The College Counseling Office has created a bulletin board display (outside Room 148) of various summer programs and camps throughout the U.S. and abroad.  Programs include two-week and four-week academic programs, leadership camps, music and theater programs, and adventure/travel programs.  Students and parents are welcome to check out the collection of view books and application materials that can be found in the College Counseling Office.  In addition, you can research summer opportunities online by clicking here.
