Congratulations to the Senior Class of 2007!

With less than two weeks left in the school year, here are details of important Upper School events.

Awards Ceremony

On Friday, June 1st the Upper School Awards Ceremony will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Nicholson Center.  This ceremony is a chance for us to recognize achievement in all areas of the school.  We would like to invite all parents to this event.

Final Exams

Fourth Quarter final exam schedule:

Tuesday, June 5th:  World Language finals will be given during class

Wednesday, June 6th:  English final – 8:45–10:15 a.m.

                                   Math Final – 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

Thursday, June 7th:  Social Studies final – 8:45–10:15 a.m.

                               Science final – 11:00 a.m.–12:30 p.m.

There are no classes on Wednesday or Thursday during finals.  Students need only be on campus during these two days when they have a scheduled exam.  The only exception is that 9th graders who have two exams one day are not allowed to leave campus during the 45-minute break between tests.  Students who need to remain on campus can have lunch between 11:05 a.m. and 12:45 p.m.

Graduation – Seniors

The end is near!  The seniors seem to have mixed emotions about the end of their MPA careers.  During the last two weeks before graduation, the seniors will complete their service projects and prepare a presentation of their work.  They will also take seminars in self-defense, personal finance, and “how to get the job.”  Wednesday, June 6th is the senior dinner, Thursday, June 7th is the senior picnic, Friday is graduation practice, and finally Saturday, June 9th at 5:00 p.m. is the ceremony.  The graduation ceremony lasts about 90 minutes with a reception immediately following in the new courtyard.  Seniors should be at school by 4:00 p.m. on graduation day – earlier if they are having individual pictures taken.

We ask that all graduates wear appropriate attire under their gowns.  The boys should wear dress pants and shirts and dress shoes - no sandals.  The girls should wear nice pants or a dress (the dress should be at least knee length.)  Sitting on stage can be a “revealing experience.”

Graduation – Juniors

MPA has a wonderful tradition of juniors participating in graduation.  The juniors are part of the processional.  The juniors form a reception line in the Nicholson Center as the seniors walk to the stage.  Juniors are not required to participate, but it is a great opportunity to be part of this special day and to see what happens at graduation.  Any junior who would like to participate must attend rehearsal on Friday, June 8th at 11:00 a.m.  Graduation is at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.  The ceremony lasts about 90 minutes.  All juniors must be dressed appropriately.  All boys must be in dress pants, shirt and tie.  The girls need to wear dress pants or a dress of appropriate length.

Final PantherCast for the year!

Listen to the final PantherCast for 2007.  There is information about the 25th Anniversary Picnic, final exams, and the Awards Ceremony on June 1st.  Additionally, there is a very special school song sung by one of our kindergarten students.  Go Panthers!  http://panthers.moundsparkacademy.org/weblog/panthercast/
