Flowers for a Brighter Future
To raise money for a school in rural east India, Upper School Student Council will be selling flowers and back stage notes at Winter Show's production of "Our Town".
For three years, Student Council has worked to bring additional funding to the Helen Keller Institute in Orissa, India. The Helen Keller Institute provides an education to girls who are blind, deaf or mute. Many of these young women have been abandoned by families who cannot afford to support a child with such disabilities. The school now has more students then it can accommodate and has purchased additional grounds for expansion. This expansion project has strained the school's already limited budget. To help the Institute continue to serve young women with nowhere else to go, Student Council will be selling flowers and back stage notes during all productions of Our Town (January 25th, 26th, February 1st and 2nd). Friends and family can write notes to cast or crew members before the show, which student council will deliver during intermission. These "back stage notes" will be sold for $1.50; flowers are also available for purchase before or after the show for $1.00. All proceeds will go to the Helen Keller Institute, and any additional donations are greatly appreciated.
