One measure of a student-centered school is how students, teachers, and parents create partnerships and communicate with each other.  At the Mounds Park Academy Upper School, all three partners attend conferences together to discuss that student's progress in that subject. This reinforces the idea that students should be fully involved in the conversation about their education and not the passive subjects of conversation between teachers and parents.  I characterize these relationships as a process of investing students with the responsibility for their education and divesting teachers and parents of responsibility for their students' day-to-day preparation and performance.  So, tonight and all day tomorrow, one can observe hundreds of these three-way conversations throughout the Upper School.
