The Freshman Retreat to Minnehaha was a success! Wabun Park has been remodeled and the facility is excellent. The ninth graders did five relays and then a water balloon toss with partners. After lunch, everyone hiked to the falls and was pleased to see a pretty good display despite the drought. The members of the class read the excerpts of the poem "Hiawatha" written in stone in a large circle garden to the north of the falls and then hiked south of the falls to observe the Stevens house which was the first permanent European-American dwelling in Minnesota west of the Mississippi. After the walk, two groups played some games, two groups made a collective card house, two groups worked on an art project and two groups went to the playground. There was great weather, and it was a great day.
