Course Information

Mounds Park Academy is a rigorous and supportive academic environment. All classes are college preparatory in nature, and often require substantial independent effort. MPA faculty work closely with students to ensure that they have support when needed and are working to reach their highest academic potential. Our small class size helps make that possible. Mounds Park Academy offers excellent instruction in all academic areas, from physical education to physics to the fine arts. The Upper School program ensures that students benefit from a comprehensive liberal arts education that develops essential skills in reading, writing, speaking and critical thinking. , In all curricular areas, our students have opportunities to hone these skills by "doing," and our commitment to addressing a myriad of learning styles helps increase the level of student engagement in the classroom.

The course information provided on this site can be of use in a variety of ways as these pages contain specifics on prerequisites and credits as well as course descriptions. Parents and students should find this site helpful in selecting courses for both the short and long term.

Be aware that this site is an additional scheduling tool to the scheduling sessions provided at Mounds Park Academy for all students. We encourage students to discuss their potential schedule with their parents and request that parents sign the initial "Class Schedule Request" sheet normally provided to students in early spring.

Parents and students must understand that courses offered are based on student need and enrollment. Therefore, the courses offered may vary from semester to semester or year to year. Generally speaking, elective courses must have ten or more students enrolled in order to take place.
