The MPArors, MPA’s robotics team, joined 20 other teams in an event called “Robots Invade the Plaza,” hosted by 3M on August 4. The event was a celebration of robotics by many of the teams that benefit from 3M’s support.
3M invited employees and their children to attend. Robotics team members demonstrated their robots to these onlookers, answered questions about the robots and about FIRST Robotics Competition, and many children experienced the thrill of driving a robot themselves. After the demonstration time, each team had a picture taken with Dean Kamen, the highly respected founder of FIRST Robotics.
Teams lined up for a “robot parade” for the employees. As each team walked by with their robot, an announcer read a brief description of the team. This was followed by a pizza and salad lunch, and an inspiring talk by Kamen.
It was a fun day to celebrate robots, and 3M’s support of MPA’s team!
