The girls placed sixth\u00a0with 27 points, just 3 points behind fifth\u00a0place. The girls\u2019 top finish came from junior Ellie Quam, who was the conference champion in the 100m hurdles, winning in a time of 17.52, just off her personal best. In the 800m, ninth\u00a0grader Izzy Quam finished fifth, scoring for the Panthers with a personal best of 2:33.21 and just missing the MPA top 10 list.\u00a0 In the 1600m, seventh\u00a0grader Margo N. scored for the Panthers with her sixth place finish. She ran 5:56.06, just off her personal best.<\/p>\n
In the girls 4x100m relay, the team of seniors Maya Sayers and Quinn Campbell, sophomore Annie Portoghese, and ninth\u00a0grader Sana Punjani placed fifth. The 4x200m team of junior Ellie Quam, sophomores Aaliyah Kellogg and Catherine Moore, and ninth\u00a0grader Izzy Quam placed fourth, the 4x400m team of juniors Ellie Quam and Gabby Law, sophomore Catherine Moore, and ninth\u00a0grader Izzy Quam placed fourth\u00a0as well, and the 4x800m team of senior Sarah Ley, junior Gabby Law, sophomore Skylar Cernohous, and ninth\u00a0grader Katie Dahiya finished third.<\/p>\n
The boys team had a very strong showing at the IMAC championships, placing third\u00a0with 82 points.\u00a0 In the 100m, junior Tae\u2019Vion Wilkins placed fifth, running a near personal best of 11.86. In the 1600m and 3200m runs, our boys distance team showed off its strength.\u00a0 In the 1600m, senior Declan Dahlberg won, with sophomore Henry Snider second and junior Matthew Bourne fourth, and in the 3200m, MPA boys swept the IMAC competition with a 1-2-3 finish from senior Declan Dahlberg, sophomore Henry Snider, and junior Matthew Bourne. In the 3200m, each of the runners qualified for the MSHSL honor roll, and Henry Snider moved up to eighth\u00a0place all-time at MPA. In the 110m hurdles, sophomore Charles Grimes finished sixth, running a personal best of 19.71, good for seventh\u00a0all-time at MPA. In the 300m hurdles, junior Dylan Dickinson placed fifth\u00a0in a near personal best of 48.37.<\/p>\n
In the 4x100m relay, the team of seniors Sumner Wu and Ben Yoch, and juniors Ian Olson and Flynn Opatz placed fourth. In the 4x200m, MPA placed third, with juniors Tae\u2019Vion Wilkins and Ian Olson and sophomores Kailil Schertzing and Nathan Harvanko running a near-season best of 1:38.60. In the 4x400m, senior Ben Yoch, junior Henry Peterson, sophomore Nathan Harvanko and eighth\u00a0grader Isak N. scored for MPA, placing fifth, and in the 4x800m, junior Henry Peterson, ninth\u00a0grader Peter Manolis, and eighth\u00a0graders Isak N. and Cullen M. placed fourth.<\/p>\n
In the High Jump, junior Yahya Madar placed first, winning the conference championship with a personal best jump of 6\u20196. This jump established a new IMAC conference all time record by 6 inches!\u00a0 In the Long Jump, sophomore Nathan Harvanko made the finals with a season best jump of 17\u20195 and just missed scoring. In the Triple Jump, junior Tae\u2019Vion Wilkins placed fifth\u00a0with a jump of 38\u20197.5, a personal best jump by over a foot!\u00a0 In the Shot Put, junior Ethan Berning placed fifth, and senior Paul Thompsen-Nelson placed sixth.\u00a0 Paul recorded a personal best of 34\u20197.5.\u00a0 In the Discus, senior Sumner Wu placed sixth.\u00a0 In the Wheelchair shot put, senior Blake Henke made his season debut, winning the event and scoring for MPA.\u00a0 Sophomore Quincy Lewis, competing in JV, made his track and field debut, winning the JV long jump, JV high jump and JV 200m dash.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
