As we begin re-enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year, I\u2019d like to share an insight with you from Rowan, a Mounds Park Academy third-grader: \u201cWhen there\u2019s a problem, I think to myself, \u2018I know how to work this out because my teachers taught me how.\u2019 They teach us all these special things that get us ready for the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
Rowan, I couldn\u2019t agree more. For more than 30 years, MPA teachers have engaged thousands of students in an experiential, college-preparatory education where critical thinking and deep content knowledge are used as the basis for developing essential skills in conflict resolution, perseverance, creativity, and collaboration. MPA teachers truly do teach the special things that prepare students for our changing world, and they do so with incredible passion and commitment.<\/p>\n
Just like Rowan, MPA\u2019s 2015-2020 Strategic Plan: Momentum 2020 <\/em>places great emphasis on our exceptional faculty and staff. In order to inspire, affirm, retain, and attract the best, MPA must offer competitive salaries, benefits, and high-quality professional development. While tuition at MPA will increase by approximately 4.5 percent next year, 70 percent of the increase will be devoted to this critical strategic plan priority. The remainder of the increase will enhance MPA\u2019s ability to empower students to live, learn, and thrive in the 21st century globalized society\u2014another important priority in the strategic plan.<\/p>\n While raising tuition is never easy, please know that the increase will directly support the implementation of Momentum 2020, <\/em>which is grounded in the school\u2019s mission and values and provides a clear, realistic, and focused path that will propel our school and our students forward.<\/p>\n I am deeply grateful for your ongoing commitment to MPA and investment in your child\u2019s future.
