We wanted a healthy balance of arts, foreign language, athletics, and, of course academics, but we wanted them to discuss and analyze topics, rather than just choose from four options on a test. Most importantly, it needed to be a place they could develop the confidence they needed to try anything.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How is your child encouraged to dream big and do right at Mounds Park Academy?<\/strong><br \/>\nWhere I went to school, kids were pegged\u2014smart kids, athletic kids, artsy kids\u2014but at MPA there are no boundaries or limitations. That\u2019s a beautiful thing. And, teachers lead by example at MPA without even articulating the expectation. The expectation clearly is that you will all take care of each other.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What would you tell another parent considering Mounds Park Academy?<\/strong><br \/>\nI didn\u2019t expect the academic rigor to be as great, but when I look at the depth of their studies and their level of understanding, I am truly impressed. What\u2019s unique is that it is not to the point that they are stressed out. Expectations are high, but their teachers truly want them to do well in all areas and to live balanced lives.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>In what ways has Mounds Park Academy prepared your child for life in the 21st century?<\/strong><br \/>\nWe wanted and expected them to be well rounded, but we didn\u2019t know they would be this confident in so many different areas. That confidence has come from feeling safe, supported, and challenged at MPA. Our children are comfortable living in the question\u2014not feeling as though they need to have the answer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What do you hope for your child in 20 years?<\/strong><br \/>\nLifelong joy of learning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Is there anything else you\u2019d like to share about your Mounds Park Academy experience?<\/strong><br \/>\nMPA is home for all of us. We hoped MPA would be a community for our children, but didn\u2019t realize it would become one for us too.
