We began the day by setting up our new tent, courtesy of some very generous cross country parents. The new tent is bigger, lighter, and has Mounds Park Academy printed on it! And the carrying case has wheels on it, although Kethan and Susie refused to use them ...
Kethan led off our racing efforts with a nice personal record in the 9th grade boys race. Our 10th grade boys continued the parade of personal records, with Andrew taking 30 seconds off his previous best, Benjamin taking 42 seconds off his previous best, and Trevor taking 60 seconds off his best. Not to be out-done, Alex shaved almost 2 minutes off his previous best time!
Kristen didn't quite match her best time on the course, but she did run a superb race. After a restrained start (finally), she moved up a few spots in the second half of the race, running the last 700 meters tough enough to put some serious distance between her and third place. She was only a few seconds behind the winner!
Ben started a little too fast and got caught between groups of runners, but still managed to come close to his personal best time.
Susie ran a tough race, putting herself in 6th place with 800 meters to go, but with a pack of girls chasing her. She finished strong, holding off the pack, to earn 7th place and her second t-shirt in this race. Louise returned to racing after some injury issues, doing nicely despite limited training.
The senior boys showed everyone who's boss. Mason ran his second mile faster than his already pretty fast first mile, winning his race by over 30 seconds. Erik and Dylan ran well enough to earn their first ever t-shirts in this event. For Dylan, it was the end of years of just missing. Des and Chris ran nice personal record races. And Sam rounded out our senior superiority.
Tallying up the efforts, there were 10 personal records for 15 runners, with a few others only seconds away. A superb effort that is the result of some hard work on your part. Keep up the good work, and better things will follow!
