The Physical Education Department provides students with the knowledge and skills to participate in a variety of individual and team activities that will enhance their lifetime fitness.

Courses Offered

Course offerings are contingent on MPA policies regarding student enrollment numbers for each class.

Grades: 9-12
Credit: .25 (may be taken for a quarter length, worth .125 credit)

This course offers skill development and game play in the following net games; badminton, tennis, pickle ball, volleyball, and table tennis.

This course will enable students to plan and implement different types of fitness programs to meet their individual needs by using the weight room/fitness center and track. Opportunities for sports skill development can also be incorporated into workouts.

Physical Education allows students to experience the scope of physical activity that contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Class activities are vigorous and fall into two broad categories: personal fitness and sport-specific activities. Fitness development includes cardiovascular endurance, strength, speed, agility, and flexibility and will include the weight room/fitness center. These physical components are integrated into advanced game play as well as individual and team challenges. Emphasis on the importance of cooperation and team play remains a vital component to leadership and group collaboration skills.

This course emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship and conditioning for a variety of team sports. Fall and spring quarters would include softball, touch football, ultimate, and soccer. Winter quarters would include basketball, volleyball, floor hockey and team handball.
