College Counseling
At Mounds Park Academy, college counseling is a highly personalized, relationship-driven process designed to help each student discover the path that is right for them.
We believe that the college search is not simply about admission—it is about reflection, growth, and finding the right fit. Our work begins early, with a comprehensive counseling curriculum introduced in the ninth-grade seminar and continuing throughout Upper School. This intentional, multi-year approach allows students to build self-awareness, explore their interests, and approach the process with confidence and clarity.
Through seminar courses and individual guidance, students engage in meaningful reflection, personality and career exploration, and skill-building in areas such as interviewing, essay writing, and resume development. Beginning in 11th grade, students deepen their exploration of colleges and universities, using tools like Scoir while working closely with counselors to identify and refine a thoughtful, balanced college list.
A hallmark of the MPA experience is the strong partnership between students, families, and counselors. Individual meetings provide space to ask questions, navigate decisions, and ensure that each student’s goals and priorities remain at the center of the process. Students also have access to a wide range of resources, including visits from more than 100 college representatives each year, college fairs, and informational programming for families.
Our individualized approach leads to strong outcomes. Each year, 100% of MPA graduates are accepted to four-year colleges and universities, with offers from a wide range of institutions across the country and beyond. Just as important, our students leave MPA prepared to thrive—confident in their choices and ready for what comes next.
