About MPA’s Head Of School, Dr. Lori-Anne Brogdon

Photo of Dr. Lori-AnneDr. Brogdon brings more than 25 years of experience as a teacher and school leader to her role as head of school at Mounds Park Academy, along with a deep belief that schools should nurture both intellect and character. A math and science teacher at heart, she is guided by curiosity, a love of learning, and a deep respect for the developmental journey of students from early childhood through graduation.

Before joining MPA, Dr. Brogdon served as head of school at Catherine Cook School in Chicago, where she led a vibrant preschool through grade eight community through a period of strategic growth, curricular alignment, and expanded support for diverse learners. Earlier in her career, she served as assistant head of school and academic dean at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn, and she has held a wide range of leadership and teaching roles across Lower, Middle, and Upper School divisions. During the 2024-25 school year, she also served as interim head of school at Groves Academy in Minnesota, a school dedicated to supporting students with learning differences.

Throughout her career, Dr. Brogdon has been known as a collaborative yet decisive leader who places relationships at the center of her work. She believes deeply in listening to community voices, empowering educators, and ensuring that students feel both challenged and supported in their learning. Colleagues, parents, and students alike often describe her as thoughtful, approachable, and deeply committed to doing what is best for children.

From her very first visit to campus, Dr. Brogdon felt a strong sense of connection to MPA’s community and mission. She was especially drawn to the school’s spirit of joyful learning, intellectual curiosity, and the shared belief that students should be encouraged to dream big and do right. She considers it both an honor and a privilege to lead a school community so deeply committed to those values.

  • Dr. Brogdon earned her B.A. from Connecticut College and both her M.A. and Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her academic work and professional experience reflect a deep commitment to teaching, learning, and the evolving role of schools in preparing young people to lead thoughtful and purposeful lives.
  • Throughout her leadership career, Dr. Brogdon has guided schools through strategic planning initiatives that strengthen mission alignment, support faculty collaboration, and advance student-centered learning. Her work has included expanding support for neurodiverse learners, strengthening curriculum alignment across divisions, fostering inclusive and equitable school communities, and building strong partnerships among faculty, families, and trustees. She has also helped grow philanthropic support and steward major campus initiatives that enhance the learning environment for students and teachers alike.
  • Dr. Brogdon brings a strong understanding of progressive education—an approach that emphasizes inquiry, collaboration, and real-world problem solving—which closely aligns with Mounds Park Academy’s mission to challenge students intellectually while nurturing their character and sense of responsibility to the broader community.
