International Student Program

Mounds Park Academy wholeheartedly embraces diversity and welcomes students from around the world.

In keeping with our commitment to global education and a diverse student body, we warmly invite international students to apply to Middle School (grades 7-8) and Upper School (grades 9-12) at Mounds Park Academy, the #2-ranked private school in Minnesota.

Our community is welcoming, safe, and inclusive. Our academic program is demanding, but not draining, and goes far beyond memorization. Students are challenged to apply their understanding to stir the human spirit, stand for justice, and shake the world. MPA is a secular school with no religious affiliation. We are, however, built on shared values such as open discourse, academic rigor, experiential learning, and mutual respect. MPA is located in the Twin Cities, the 16th largest metropolitan area in the United States, within the State of Minnesota. Minnesota, a top-ranked state for children, is known to be a progressive region of the country and a place that is home to students, families, employees and companies from around the globe. At MPA, we have built a globally-minded community, and we are currently home to students born in 16 different countries and many families who have spent significant time living abroad.

Our faculty, students, parents, coaches, host parents, and school community as a whole value the opportunity to learn about new cultures and gain fresh perspectives. Many serve as warm and welcoming host families for our international students. Living with a host family allows students to advance their global perspective and critical thinking, gain deeper fluency in English, and have caring help navigating an academically rigorous, college-preparatory education.

All international students must have a good command of English. MPA does offer an advanced language and culture support class for all incoming students; however, a strong mastery of English is necessary to be an active, successful student in all classes and activities.
