The Curious Case of the Cottingley Fairies
By Claire Wittman
When sixteen-year-old Lilli Barnes sees a fairy, a magical game shared with her young cousin Mabel quickly becomes something neither girl could have imagined. What begins as an escape from the worry and uncertainty of the Great War becomes a national sensation, drawing the attention of curious reporters, celebrated authors, devoted spiritualists, and skeptics determined to uncover the truth.
As their photographs capture the imagination of people around the world, Lilli and Mabel find themselves caught between childhood wonder and an adult world determined to decide what is real. The Curious Case of the Cottingley Fairies is a beautiful and thought-provoking story about truth, belief, and imagination, exploring why, particularly in uncertain times, we sometimes need something extraordinary to believe in.
