Middle School Arts

At Mounds Park Academy, every student participates in the arts because we believe creativity is essential to becoming a thoughtful, well-rounded individual. Fine arts in Middle School are a journey of exploration and discovery. Students in grades 5-8 are encouraged to find their voice, experiment with new forms of expression, and develop confidence as artists and performers.

A Broad and Balanced Program

Middle School students engage deeply in Visual Arts, Theatre, Vocal and Instrumental Music, with opportunities that expand as their skills and interests grow.

  • Visual arts challenges students to experiment with a wide range of media, from drawing and painting to sculpture, ceramics, and digital design, encouraging creativity and personal expression.
  • Through theatre, students build confidence through improvisation, performance, and stagecraft. By taking risks in a supportive environment, they grow as communicators, collaborators, and leaders.
  • Music offerings include band, orchestra, and choir, giving students the chance to develop technical skills while performing in ensembles that showcase teamwork and artistry. In fifth grade, students choose their instrument in either orchestra or band.

Middle School artists have opportunities to shine in performances, concerts, and exhibitions throughout the year. They may also join extracurricular groups and productions, where they can pursue their passions more deeply and prepare for the robust arts programs of Upper School.
