Middle School Supply Lists
2026-27
All Middle School students are assigned a combination locker and are encouraged to keep it organized and to utilize access to their locker to support self-management throughout the day.
Students are required to change clothes before and after Physical Education (PE) classes in grades 5-8. Students should bring clothing appropriate for physical activity to school to remain in their gym locker along with an extra pair of tennis shoes (no black soles, please).
The following is appropriate and required clothing:
- Short- or long-sleeved T-shirt (weather-appropriate) - Any graphics or text must be school-appropriate and not contain offensive or derogatory language, images, or symbols
- Athletic style shorts or athletic pants/joggers.
- Athletic shoes (to be left in the locker at school) - Please choose a non-marking sole
- Deodorant to be kept in PE locker
- Combination lock for PE locker - This is optional but highly encouraged
General Notes for Middle School Families
- Please label each student's items with their full name.
- We do not allow backpacks to be carried from class to class. We will work with students to bring only what they need. A backpack is essential to carry items from school to home and back again.
- All Middle School students will receive an MPA planner on the first day of school. There is no additional charge for this.
- Consumable school supplies must be replaced/replenished by families. This includes, but is not limited to, pencils, pens, colored pencils, paper, etc. While teachers have materials for students to borrow, it is a student's responsibility to bring with them required materials to school and class.
A note about cell phones: Cell phone use is not permitted during the school day at MPA. If your student has a cell phone, it should be turned off (powered completely down) before the start of block one and not be utilized until after 3 PM. It should be stored in their locker and/or backpack (which stays in the locker). If a student needs access to their phone for any reason, they must first speak with a teacher or an adult.
Students should purchase one of each of the following for all grades:
- Binder: One zipped/trapper three-ring binder, recommended with two-pocket insertable plastic dividers in five colors (Avery 11903 recommended to fit inside the binder) OR a binder equipped with an accordion folder
- Earbuds/Earphones: All students must have a personal pair of earbuds/earphones compatible with their computer (all students use a MacBook at school) - We will not be able to loan earbuds.
- One no-spill water bottle with a securely closing lid and/or straw

A note about individual organization: Much of what is included here is intended to support your student's self-organization and management. If your student has an efficient and effective organizational system (I.e., prefers binders over an accordion file), please feel free to stick with that system. If your child has not yet reached the point of managing multiple classes and teachers, we ask for your assistance in finding a system that reinforces positive executive function development to support their academic success. |
