The Upper School years are a time of increasing independence, deeper thinking, and meaningful exploration. At Mounds Park Academy, students are challenged to take ownership of their learning while discovering the unique interests and strengths that will shape their path forward.
Our program is intentionally broad and rigorous, encouraging students to think critically, take intellectual risks, and engage deeply across disciplines. Mounds Park Academy’s strong college-going culture and college counseling process are driven by careful consideration of each student’s interests, priorities, and aspirations, balanced with an understanding of the current college admission landscape by our expert college counseling staff.
Upper School guides students through developmentally appropriate phases each year, including a seminar program focused on self-reflection, career exploration, and practical skills like testing and college essays. This, combined with personalized counseling, ensures students and families receive tailored guidance throughout the process and that each student’s unique goals are supported.
Involved And Empowered
We know that in order for students to thrive, they must have opportunities to discover their passions and interests. Being involved in extra-curricular activities is expected and encouraged at MPA and that has a profound effect on the culture and character of the school. In fact, MPA looks for students who aren’t afraid to jump in and explore new things. We know that students consistently perform better academically when they’re involved in other parts of the school, like performing in the choir, going out for a new sport, finding a role in the spring musical, or becoming a team captain. They develop broader groups of friends, greater self-confidence, and deeper levels of tolerance and compassion. They become inspired by their experiences and unafraid of taking on new challenges.
