At Mounds Park Academy, learning is hands-on, engaging, and full of opportunities to explore. During the MPA Preview on November 15, prospective families are invited to experience that learning firsthand through interactive sessions led by MPA faculty. All sessions are designed to welcome families with children of all ages, from PreK through grade 12. From creative arts and scientific discovery to coding, world languages, and collaborative challenges, these experiences offer a glimpse into the curiosity, creativity, and joyful learning that define an MPA education. |

French Café
Discover MPA’s robust K-12 world language program through a taste of French culture! Enjoy a refreshing diabolo, a classic French drink, while practicing French vocabulary and conversational phrases with our Middle and Upper School students. Enjoy French folk songs performed by students and experience how MPA brings language learning to life through music, culture, and meaningful connections.
Rally Together: A Paddle Sports Experience
Join the MPA physical education team for a fun, hands-on paddle sports experience. Families can drop in to try paddle challenges, cooperative rally activities, and skill-based games designed for all ages and ability levels. This session showcases MPA’s commitment to joyful learning, community, healthy challenge, and active engagement through movement and play.
Coding For All Ages
Discover how coding comes to life at MPA! From playful introductions and programming in Lower School to more advanced coding and computer science in Middle and Upper School, explore how students develop creativity, problem-solving skills, and computational thinking. Guests of all ages are invited to try hands-on coding activities and experience the joy of learning through technology.
Growing Together: Our MPA Identity Garden
Explore the many parts of who you are through a creative, hands-on activity for the whole family! Using an identity wheel as a guide, create a flower that reflects your culture, interests, experiences, and more. Connect with other families as you discover what you share, celebrate what makes each person unique, and add your flower to our growing community garden. Experience how MPA fosters belonging, curiosity, empathy, and self-awareness, helping every student feel known, valued, and included.
Open Painting Studio
Step into one of MPA’s art studios and explore your creativity! Join Upper School art students as they work with a variety of painting techniques and materials, including traditional East Asian sumi-e painting and acrylics. Watch student artists at work, ask questions, and try your hand at painting with bamboo brushes. Experience how MPA’s visual arts program encourages creative expression, builds artistic skills, and inspires students to explore new ideas.
Neuroscience Stations
Discover how your brain and nervous system work through hands-on challenges inspired by MPA’s Upper School neuroscience and psychology courses! Test your coordination with upside-down goggles, use your own muscle activity to control a mechanical claw, and explore how your senses shape the way you experience the world. You'll see how MPA students investigate scientific concepts through experimentation, curiosity, and discovery.
Chain Reaction Collaboration
Put your creativity and problem-solving skills to the test in MPA’s Makerspace! Build on a chain reaction contraption started by prospective ninth graders earlier in the day, working collaboratively to add new elements and keep the reaction going. Experiment with different materials and designs while experiencing the hands-on, inquiry-based learning that encourages MPA students to think critically, collaborate, and bring their ideas to life.
