The Physical Education Department provides students with the knowledge and skills to participate in a variety of individual and team activities that will enhance their lifetime fitness.

Course offerings are contingent on MPA policies regarding student enrollment numbers for each class.
| Freestyle Fitness |

Grades: 9-12 Freestyle Fitness is an innovative, movement-based physical education course that blends athletic skills, dance, creative expression, and functional fitness through a variety of multi-week mini-units. Examples of mini-units for this course may include: TikTok and modern dance challenges, gymnastics floor routines, plyometrics, parkour fundamentals, climbing wall activities, flat-track roller derby, and Double Dutch choreography with additional units as time allows and creativity is sparked. Team and individual activities are incorporated to build cooperation, strategy, and game awareness. Throughout the course, students will also participate in core strength and stability challenges to support injury prevention, overall fitness, and lifetime enjoyment of movement. Freestyle Fitness explores dynamic fun in sports and activities while building strength, coordination, balance, endurance, and confidence. This course is designed for all ability levels and encourages students to discover enjoyable ways to stay active while developing lifelong fitness skills. |
| Net Games |
|
Grades: 9-12 This course offers skill development and game play in the following net games; badminton, tennis, pickle ball, volleyball, and table tennis. |
| Personal Training |

Grades: 9-12 This course will enable students to plan and implement different types of fitness programs to meet their individual needs by using the weight room/fitness center and track. Opportunities for sports skill development can also be incorporated into workouts. |
| Physical Education |

Grades: 9-10 Physical Education allows students to experience the scope of physical activity that contributes to a healthy lifestyle. Class activities are vigorous and fall into two broad categories: personal fitness and sport-specific activities. Fitness development includes cardiovascular endurance, strength, speed, agility, and flexibility and will include the weight room/fitness center. These physical components are integrated into advanced game play as well as individual and team challenges. Emphasis on the importance of cooperation and team play remains a vital component to leadership and group collaboration skills. |
| Team Activities |

Grades: 9-12 This course emphasizes teamwork, sportsmanship and conditioning for a variety of team sports. Fall and spring quarters would include softball, touch football, ultimate, and soccer. Winter quarters would include basketball, volleyball, floor hockey and team handball. |
