Middle School Supply List for 2017-2018

General Notes for Grades 5 - 8:

  • Label everything clearly with the student’s full name.
  • All middle school students will receive an MPA student planner on the first day of school. There is no additional charge for this.
  • You do NOT need to purchase any textbooks, novels, or workbooks except for Orchestra students, as noted below.
  • Please bring everything on Back-to-School Night to put in your locker.
  • Backpacks and other bags may be used to transport school supplies to and from school, but they must stay in a student’s locker during the day.
  • World Language Supplies:
    • Spanish (all levels): 1 spiral notebook (with 100+ sheets), 1 pocket folder
    • French (all levels): 3-ring binder (1-inch) with dividers, 2 packages loose leaf paper

5th Grade Supply List

  • 1 zipped 3-ring binder with two-pocket insertable plastic dividers in 5 colors (Avery 11903 recommended to fit inside the binder) OR binder equipped with accordion folder
  • 2 spiral notebooks (with 100+ sheets)
  • 4 pocket folders (1 is left in the music room)
  • 2 packages loose leaf paper (wide-ruled)
  • 2 glue sticks
  • 4 highlighters in at least 2 different colors
  • 4-6 dry erase markers in different colors
  • Pencils, black and colored pens (for correcting) – please replenish throughout the year
  • 1 box of colored markers and/or colored pencils
  • Earbuds in a labeled bag to stay at school (required)
  • Physical Education Uniform:
    • Any short-sleeved t-shirt with an MPA logo.
    • Athletic style shorts (inseam 4” or longer). No docker or cargo style shorts.
    • Appropriate and clean tennis shoes with laces, i.e. running, cross trainers, or indoor court shoes. (No slip-ons, clogs or raised soles, skateboarding or hiking style shoes). These shoes must have non-marking soles.
    • Sweatshirt or jacket (as needed for cooler weather).
    • Sweatpants or nylon wind pants (as needed for cooler weather).

6th Grade Supply List

  • Grade 8 Only: Picture postcard of somewhere you visited during the summer for Art (pick postcards with images only, if possible. Few to no words.)

    • Short-sleeved t-shirt (no sleeveless shirts of any sort for either boys or girls). T-shirts must be standard length (fall below the belt-line when arms are raised) and be free of tears or holes. Any graphics or text must be school-appropriate and is up to the discretion of the individual teacher.
