Extra-Curricular Eligibility (Upper School)
Mounds Park Academy is committed to academic success; therefore, a student’s academic performance is linked to their eligibility for extracurricular activities.
When a teacher notifies the Upper School Director that a student has fallen below 70% (C-) in any class, they are given a period of seven (7) days to raise their grade to remain eligible. If this time elapses and the 70% standard is still not met, they will become ineligible for extracurricular participation (practice, game, or competition). A grade of “Incomplete” may also trigger automatic ineligibility. Eligibility is restored as soon as the teacher notifies the Upper School Director that the student’s grade is above the 70% threshold and/or that the incomplete work has been completed. Communication about eligibility and ineligibility will come through the Upper School Director.
Extracurricular activities at MPA include, but are not limited to: athletics, theater performances, robotics, Quiz Bowl, debate, speech, etc.
Students may not participate in extracurricular activities (practice, game, or competition) if they are not in school by 11:00 am. Exceptions may be made based upon previously scheduled arrangements or unique student situations.
