Ty Johnston tried it all at MPA. Before graduating in 2004, he earned eight varsity letter awards across three different sports, soccer, basketball and baseball, and also tried cross country running. But baseball was his first love. As a star on the diamond for the Panthers, Johnston was a three time captain, two time team MVP and three time Tri Metro all-conference honorable mention honoree.

“MPA provided me with an opportunity to not only excel in small class sizes academically but offered the opportunity to get on to the field/court in varsity competition at an earlier age,” remembers Johnston. “The experience of competing at the varsity level in multiple sports as well as balancing the demands in the classroom at MPA allowed me to feel more comfortable with those tasks at the next level.”

Johnston earned an athletic scholarship to play baseball at Division I Creighton University in Omaha, NE. Wearing #12, the righthanded pitcher appeared in 19 career games, starting 4 of them and recording 21 strikeouts in 28 innings. He went on to be a three year varsity letter winner for the Blue Jays, who were both the Missouri Valley Conference Champions and an NCAA top 25 team during his time on the team.

Johnston graduated from Creighton in 2009 with a degree in entrepreneurship and finance. He now works as wealth manager at Creative Planning Inc.
